Founded in 2014 in Brussels and growing rapidly, the Becquerel Institute, a consultancy specialized in solar photovoltaics, is consolidating its foothold on the Italian market with the opening of an office in Trento and the recruitment of a leading expert in the field of PV quality and reliability.

Under the leadership of David Moser, who assumes the role of Managing Partner, Becquerel Institute Italia aims to provide localized expertise and services to support the growth of solar PV in Italy, and to help local stakeholders take advantage of it.

In addition to the wide range of Becquerel Institute’s services and activities, Becquerel Institute Italia aims at developing state-of-the-art AI tools supporting the downstream PV sector and in particular the optimization of management, operations and maintenance of PV plants.

David Moser has been working in the PV sector for 15 years. He has developed his career at Eurac Research, where he gained experience in numerous fields related to design, optimization, quality and reliability of solar and solar+storage systems. In his last years at Eurac Research, he significantly scaled the solar department, combining responsibilities as a senior researcher, project manager and business developer.

David also developed, wrote and coordinated successfully numerous Horizon Europe as well as other research projects in the fields of quality & reliability, O&M and agrivoltaics and will add his expertise to the research team of Becquerel Institute.

Plus, he participates as an expert in numerous Italian, European and global organisations such as the IEA PVPS Task 13 as well as vice-chair of the European Technology and Innovation Platform for PV (ETIP-PV).

Gaëtan Masson, CEO and founder of the Becquerel Institute said: “Solar PV is now a mainstream competitive technology. To keep up with significant geopolitical challenges, a renewed opposition to the energy transition and the constraints related to high PV penetration in European grids, the PV industry needs to integrate AI, streamline design and O&M processes and understand better the complex regulatory environment. Our ambition is to help our customers navigate successfully this transition. Our expansion in Italy is part of this dynamic.” Philippe Macé, COO and partner of the Becquerel Institute declared: “The Italian PV sector is now among the most dynamic ones in Europe, with encouraging perspectives in terms of market development as well as re-industrialisation, although some obstacles remain. Having a local presence to help Italian stakeholders overcome these obstacles is a natural step on our growth path.”

The new office in Trento will enable the Becquerel Institute to work closely with local partners, government agencies, and businesses to drive innovation and promote the transition towards a more sustainable future. It will also provide local professionals, companies and organizations access to the institute's extensive knowledge and expertise in the field.
